It's Been A Great Spring For JLLS This Spring has been an exciting time for JLLS members in western Oklahoma. Two communities hosted luncheons -- each with tremendous support and response.
In OKC, Olympic Gold Medal gymnast Dominique Dawes wowed the crowd with her inspiring story of leadership and following a dream. This year's luncheon raised $264,000 -- a record for any JLLS lunch in previous years -- bringing the 5-year total to more than $850,000 that goes directly to providing Girl Scouting opportunities to thousands of girls.
After the luncheon, Dawes visited Emerson Alternative School where Girl Scouts there surprised her with an Olympic-style presentation -- complete with Gold Medals and opening ceremonies.
In Enid, grief specialist Darcie D. Sims spoke on "Surviving the Superwoman Syndrome." This was the third JLLS Luncheon for Enid, and it too raised more money than in previous years. A total of $16,000 was raised this year, doubling donations of the luncheon three years ago.
"For a community the size of Enid, this is a fantastic response," said Cathy Stackpole, CEO. "The support from the Enid area continues to grow with the help of many dedicated volunteers and community leaders who believe in the mission of Girl Scouts."
In this issue of the JLLS E-Newsletter, we've posted several pictures from this year's spring luncheons.

Celebrating 5 Years of Growing Strong Girls of Courage, Confidence and Character To show appreciation for five years of JLLS in OKC, members who attended the luncheon this year received a special commemorative pin. Each member received a pin with “pearls” to honor them in the number of years their membership has supported the growth of Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma. Members will watch as their tree grows in the number of girls who have been impacted by the support of the Juliette Low Leadership Society. If you are a member who was unable to attend the luncheon, watch your mailbox the week of April 27 for a special delivery!
