For CPR/1st Aid Trainers
When completing a course record form, be sure to list Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma in the box titled "Training Site Information." If you don't, the billing will be incorrect and your class participants' certification will not be forwarded to the proper location. If you have any questions, email Jaimie Siegal.

Get Ready For National Green Week

National Green Week 2010 is Feb. 1-5. You can be part of this event by planning a "green" activity -- initiate a recycling project at your school, plant a garden, replace light bulbs with energy efficient ones at your school or church, or do a lot other "green" projects. Let us know what you plan to do for Green Week. Take pictures of your project and submit to Deborah Gooding.

Cookie Sale Is Here!

Keep watching the cookie page on our website for updated information, including the cookie booth locater button and all request forms for the season.

GS-West also is participating in the "Vote for your Favorite Cookie" online contest through the Oklahoma State Treasurer's office. This is the second year for the program, where the Girl Scout who sells the most cookies in the state will get a $1,529 college scholarship account.

The troop that gets the most people to vote for their favorite cookie will get $529. Click on the "Decisions Decisions" banner on our website's main page.

Girl Scout Cookie Video Contest! We have received a couple of video entries so far. Watch them at www.youtube.com/girlscoutswestok. The best entries will be posted on the GS-West YouTube Channel, our Twitter site and our Facebook page. The winning entry will receive a new Flip Video Camera! The deadline to enter has been extended to Feb. 10 Click here for contest rules

Membership Drive Starts Today!

With all the activity going on around Girl Scout Cookies, Friends of Girl Scouting, calendar events and a lot more, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma is getting a lot of attention in the public -- so now is the time to reach out and invite new girls and adults to join!

GS-West Membership Drive will be Feb. 1 through March 15. This is a great opportunity for all the Service Units to earn great incentives while bring more members to our organization. Here's what you can earn:
  • New girls registering during the Drive will receive a $2 discount on membership fee.
  • Girls who bring a friend who joins Girl Scouts will get a "friendship patch.
  • Service  Units reaching the #1 Goal by Feb. 28 will receive a $50 shop gift certificate (expires Sept. 30).
  • Service Units reaching #2 goal by March 15 will receive a $5 coupon for each girl in their SU to use towards any council event by Sept. 30 OR use of a council camp property at no cost for a weekend of their choice (between April 1-Sept. 30 based on availablity).
  • The Service Unit exceeding Goal #2 by the greatest number will get $150 to be used in recognition of the people that help grow membership in their area.
Take this challenge and help share the leadership experience of Girl Scouting in your community and school!
