Cookie Marketing Tip of the Month

Take pictures of girls in your troop or community selling cookies and submit to your local paper. Be sure to identify the girls pictured and always end with: For more information on Girl Scout Cookies, visit www.gswestok.org.

Power of Girls Intern'l Women's Day

Last year, GSUSA & CARE launched ‘The Power of Girls’ (www.thepowerofgirls.com) initiative to help mobilize girls around important global issues, including the critical role that girls' education and leadership play in addressing poverty. As part of this will be International Women's Day on March 8. In honor of this day, the special live performance called "Half the Sky" will be shown on selected movie theaters nationwide on March 4. The event will be shown in theaters in Norman and OKC. For details on this event including tickets, click here.

Reach Your Membership Drive Goals!

With all the activity going on around Girl Scout Cookies, Friends of Girl Scouting, calendar events and a lot more, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma is getting a lot of attention in the public -- so now is the time to reach out and invite new girls and adults to join!

Have you cast your "Vote for your Favorite Cookie" online contest through the Oklahoma State Treasurer's office? The Oklahoma Girl Scout who sells the most cookies will get a $1,529 college scholarship account. The troop that gets the most people to vote for their favorite cookie online will get $529. The vote is close! Will GS-West get more votes that GS-East?! Click on the "Decisions Decisions" banner on our website and vote for your favorite cookie and troop.

Girl Scout Cookie Video Contest! The winner of our first Cookie Video Contest is Elena Trejo of Choctaw with her video "Case Full of Cookies." Judges comments included "the lyrics were very complicated and she didn't stumble." "I think we have a star on our hands." View the winning video on our homepage.

Cookie Dough Reminder: Last year's cookie dough expires April 15. The shop will be open on Saturday, April 10, to accommodate girls who want to spend their cookie dough. Girls can also choose what they want now to be sent to our Lawton, Norman and Enid locations to purchase!

In Memoriam

Stephanie Elaine (Kiser) Freeman, 38, of Moore, OK, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Stephanie was born on November 21, 1971, in Duncan. She attended John Marshall High School and graduated in 1990. Stephanie received great joy in her marriage to Kevin and raising her daughter Addie. She devoted her time to church, Girl Scouts, and various activities at her daughter's school. We are all deeply saddened and send our deepest sympathies to the family. A memorial service will be held Saturday at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany. For more information, click
